Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Supervisor to work within our Generation team. You will successfully plan, schedule, manage and coordinate field employees, subcontractors, plant and equipment in the delivery of the work programmes safely, on time, to an appropriate quality standard and to achieve planned profit or better as per maintenance and job bid targets.
The role is initially based in the Manawatu region; however, Downer Energy NZ operates service and construction contracts at various sites across the country. This role is ideal for someone willing to work away from home and travel around New Zealand for major renewable projects. Applicants should be prepared for both short-term and long-term travel as part of their regular work schedule.
The company covers flights, accommodation, vehicles, and fuel, and provides a daily allowance when working at project sites in New Zealand. We have a supportive team culture where we work hard, enjoy ourselves, look out for each other, and gain experience with different skills and projects.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skill
- Hands-on experience in renewable Generation or Transmission substation construction and maintenance, or similar.
- Supervisory training and qualification at Level 4 is desirable.
- Previous experience in leading teams is essential; experience in a similar role preferred.
- A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements.
- Good working knowledge of the use and application of test equipment associated with the power industry.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and customers, at all levels.
- Physical stamina to carry out arduous manual work, often in trying conditions.
