The Supervising Psychiatrist serves as the clinical and collaborative leader for a team of four Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs), providing direct supervision, consultation, and quality oversight to ensure evidence-based, high-quality psychiatric care. This position focuses exclusively on supporting the clinical practice of the nurse practitioner team through weekly supervision, case consultation, collaborative treatment planning, and continuous quality improvement. The Supervising Psychiatrist does not maintain an independent patient caseload and does not need to oversee the PMHNPs entire caseload but instead serves as a force multiplier, extending psychiatric expertise across the entire care team to optimize patient outcomes and provider development.
Clinical Supervision and Collaboration• Provide weekly individual and/or group supervision to four Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, including review of complex cases, diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and medication management strategies• Maintain documented supervision minimum 1 hour per week per provider or 4 hours monthly as required)• Ensure adherence to collaborative practice agreements and protocols established with each PMHNP• Serve as the designated collaborating physician for all four PMHNPs, fulfilling state licensure and supervision requirements• Conduct quarterly chart reviews for each supervising PMHNP to assess quality of documentation, appropriateness of diagnoses, medication management, treatment planning, and compliance with clinical standards (number of charts reviewed will be determined by the collaborating supervisor)
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)• Board Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry• Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of practice• Valid DEA license without restrictions
