About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [MP]

Directs a variety of tasks and personnel in the operation and service of equipment and processes in the safe and environmentally responsible delivery, unloading, weighing handling and storage of the bulk materials (fuels, reagents & CCB’s) that support electric generation. This includes the direction of Bulk Material operations and maintenance, safety programs, environmental compliance, and adherence to Coast Guard regulations. This position reports to the Plant Operations Manager.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Serves as the primary contact point tor and takes responsibility for safe and environmentally compliant coal delivery operations including overland and truck deliveries as well as lime delivery by rail to meet the needs of unit operations.
  • Participates actively in assuring a safe work environment for all persons working in or visiting the plant. Directly interacts with personnel to promote safety and human performance engagement.
  • Interacts with and is able to clearly communicate with corporate groups, vendors, consultants, and regulatory agencies in all facets of Bulk Material activities which may involve safety, environmental, labor, and technical processes.
  • Assures that Bulk Material Title V, shift logs, field round logs, tank inspections and environmental reports are completed
  • Monitors coal pile maintenance to ensure dry coal is conveyed to the plant
  • Monitors coal, lime, and sludge qualities to ensure fuels and reagents meet plant specifications,
  • Monitor coal yard and solid waste processing conditions, systems and equipment operations and make recommendations to ensure compliance with operational and environmental parameters and the safety of personneL
  • Directs and is responsible for assigned plant Bulk Material (Coal Yard and Solid Waste Processing) crews.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures and assure compliance with company business practices concerning handling, sampling, weighing, storage and inventory,
  • Analyzes process performance and provides recommendations to reduce operating and maintenance costs and increase safe and reliable operation of Bulk Materials. Manages the Fuel Handling Operations budget.
  • Acts as a Bulk Material system/equipment specialist/resource and interacts with and provides operational feedback co internal and external groups to be certain projects and repairs to Bulk Material equipment are completed in a safe, reliable, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Understanding of the FGD magnesium-enhanced thiosorbic lime process and oversight of chemistry to ensure process remains within established boundaries
  • Serves as the plant liaison to corporate Fuels and vendors regarding material requirements and contracts.
  • Oversees production quality of coal combustion by-products and coordinates activities at the on-site landfill and leachate systems.
  • May serve as a sponsor, leader or member of various plant, fleet or corporate level teams and will be an active and contributing participant in all roles.
  • Interacts and shares information With other FE Generation plants
  • Participates 'n the selection, development and advancement of operation personnel and leaders
  • Participates in the prioritization of Bulk Material projects and maintenance and provides operational input.
  • Provide input to troubleshoot Bulk Material process issues based on a strong knowledge of systems and interactions.
  • Assists engineers, techn;cians, project leads, coordinators, and contractors in resolving operational, safety, environmental and commercial issues.
  • Manages and provides direction for predictive and preventative maintenance activities assigned to Bulk Material personnel
  • Adheres to and enforces Company policies, procedures, work rules and contract language
  • Counsel employees in job-related areas, conduct performance evaluations, administer discipline, mentors and resolve personnel conflicts.
  • Works with procedure wnter to establish and maintain applicable operating procedures
  • Ensures that tagging standards are established and maintained in accordance with the lockout/tagout system.
  • Works with personnel with alarm management in the Bulk Material area,
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technologies AND a minimum 8 years of related experience OR a minimum of 9 years of direct power plant experience.
  • It is desirable to have 5 years of leadership experience
