Job Description

Ledcor Industrial is more than a contractor—we’re a powerhouse delivering fully integrated construction, maintenance, and turnaround solutions across some of the largest and most complex industrial projects in Canada. From site preparation to critical path execution, we bring deep expertise, strong coordination, and a relentless focus on safety to every turnaround.

As a multi-discipline, self-performing leader, we execute a significant portion of our work in-house. This provides strong exposure across all phases of execution—from planning and scheduling through shutdown execution and startup readiness. You’ll work within fast-paced, high-pressure turnaround environments where precision, leadership, and clear communication are critical to success.

This role is based in Fort McMurray and supports a major turnaround project with rotational work schedules.

At Ledcor, it’s not just about the project—it’s about building a meaningful career with a team that values integrity, teamwork, and pride in craftsmanship. When you join our True Blue team, you’re part of something bigger.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead field execution of mechanical scopes during turnaround activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
  • Supervise and coordinate multi-disciplinary mechanical crews including pipefitters, welders, boilermakers, and millwrights
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems, vessels, rotating equipment, and mechanical components
  • Ensure all lifts and rigging activities associated with mechanical work are properly planned and executed safely
  • Drive daily planning activities including crew assignments, workface planning, and coordination with other disciplines
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Planners, and site leadership to ensure alignment on schedule, priorities, and constraints
  • Monitor field progress, productivity, and performance, proactively addressing issues impacting schedule or cost
  • Champion compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and lead safety initiatives in the field
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and field observations to reinforce a strong safety culture
  • Ensure all mechanical work meets quality standards, specifications, drawings, and client expectations
  • Coordinate equipment, material, tools, and manpower to meet critical turnaround timelines
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve field issues while minimizing downtime and rework
  • Provide input into turnaround planning including scope development, constructability, and execution strategies
  • Maintain clear communication with crews, stakeholders, and leadership across both day and night shifts
  • Support reporting, progress tracking, and documentation requirements

Qualifications:

  • Extensive industrial construction experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong background in turnaround/shutdown execution with mechanical scopes
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising mechanical trades (pipefitting, welding, boilermaking, millwrighting)
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems including piping, vessels, and rotating equipment
  • Solid knowledge of rigging practices and lift planning fundamentals
  • Proven experience managing crews in fast-paced industrial or turnaround environments
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and mechanical work packages
  • Effective leadership, communication, and coordination skills across multiple disciplines
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Commitment to safety excellence and leadership in HSE program execution

Work Conditions:

  • Site-based position in Fort McMurray, AB
  • Rotational schedule supporting a major turnaround project
  • Day shift and night shift work required
  • Camp accommodations and travel provided (where applicable)
  • Physically demanding environment with exposure to industrial site conditions
