Job Description

Job Description – Tilt Wall Superintendent (Phoenix, AZ – Light Industrial)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced tilt wall Superintendent to lead field operations on ground-up light industrial projects across the Phoenix metro area. You will own safety, schedule, quality and subcontractor coordination from site work through turnover on warehouse, distribution and manufacturing buildings, typically in the 100,000 to 500,000+ SF range.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a builder who understands how a tilt panel job is sequenced, from slab and casting beds through the panel set, roof and tenant finish, and who can keep it moving in Arizona's heat and fast delivery windows. The Superintendent reports to the Project Manager and Director of Construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all field operations from mobilization through certificate of occupancy and closeout, keeping the project on schedule, on budget and safe.
  • Plan and sequence the tilt wall work: slab and casting bed preparation, panel forming, rebar and embed placement, pours, curing and the panel pick and set.
  • Coordinate crane, rigging and bracing: review pick plans and brace layouts with the engineer and crane contractor, and verify footing, brace and site readiness before every lift.
  • Manage the structural tie-in and dry-in: panel connections, joists and deck, roofing, and dock and overhead door installation.
  • Run weekly lookahead schedules and daily subcontractor coordination, and hold trade partners accountable to their commitments.
  • Enforce the site safety program, including pick-day exclusion zones, fall protection, heat illness prevention, daily hazard analyses and toolbox talks.
  • Drive quality control on panel tolerances, embeds and reveals, joint sealants, slab flatness and levelness, and roofing, and manage city and third-party inspections.
  • Plan for Phoenix conditions: early-start concrete placements, hot weather concrete practices, monsoon preparation, and dust control and stormwater compliance.
  • Keep accurate daily logs, photos and progress reports, and support the Project Manager with RFIs, submittals, change order backup and cost tracking.
  • Lead the punch list, owner or tenant walkthroughs, turnover and warranty handoff.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of commercial or industrial construction field experience, including at least 5 years as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent on tilt wall projects.
  • Hands-on experience running ground-up tilt wall buildings from site work through turnover, including panel casting, bracing and crane picks.
  • Proven delivery of light industrial, warehouse or distribution projects of 100,000+ SF.
  • Working knowledge of the Phoenix metro market, including local jurisdictions, inspection practices and the regional subcontractor base.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, structural and architectural drawings, panel shop drawings and pick plans.
  • Strong scheduling and planning skills, with working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam and Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • OSHA 30 certification and a strong, visible commitment to jobsite safety.
  • Clear communicator who can lead trades, work with owners and design teams, and develop assistant superintendents and field engineers.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on speculative and build-to-suit industrial projects for developers and institutional owners.
  • Established relationships with Phoenix area tilt wall, crane, steel, roofing and site work trade partners.
  • Experience with self-performed concrete or close coordination with a concrete subcontractor.
  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 500, First Aid and CPR, or a crane signal and rigging qualification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

What Success Looks Like

  • Panels are cast, picked and set safely and on plan.
  • The building is dried in on schedule, with clean inspections and few punch list items at turnover.
  • Trade partners want to work with us again, and no one is hurt on your site.

  • Base salary: To be provided by client
