Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all night shift construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules and quality standards. This role provides leadership to field crews and subcontractors, coordinates resources, and supports the successful delivery of project objectives.
What You'll Do Here:
- Promote, lead and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors and consultants in compliance with the project’s Environmental Health and Safety Program and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments and mentorship with crews.
- Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections.
- Track and report project cost, quality control, resource requirements.
- Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews.
- Direct Foremen on productivity issues and monitor the work performance, working with the Foremen and crews to overcome challenges.
- Follow project plans and budget while ensuring the Foremen and crews perform to meet production goals.
- Assist the Foremen to translate drawings, specifications, and work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
- Understand the scope and sequencing of work, plan and prioritize the work, effectively redirect crews and equipment to assigned tasks and minimize downtime on sites.
- Work with the Construction Manager to identify material, equipment and labor resource requirements.
- Work with the Construction Manager and Foremen to periodically reassess established goals to meet forecasted production, schedules and budgets.
- Build and maintain a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching and team building.
- Ensure work completed meets quality standards, that preparation and submittal of required reports, documentation and logs are completed.
- Oversee the approval of daily production records and reporting on work progress, these include:
- Daily quality control inspections and checklists.
- Record and report of violations or disciplinary actions.
- HSE inspections and reports.
- Project specific forms/inspections/tracking as required.
- Review and approval of daily field logs.
- Reviewing daily time cards and logs with the Project manager/Leads to ensure accuracy of phase codes and reported items.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry with experience in heavy civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience with Hydro Electric Dams or other structural construction projects is an asset.
- Experience working on a large, multi-disciplinary teams is an asset.
- Experience managing a diverse group of Subcontractors.
- Experience coordinating with public project owners to comply with Local Agency and environmental issues and requirements.
- Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate in a timely and effective manner with the public and project stakeholders.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word,etc.).
- Must have a valid BC Driver’s License.
Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00
