About the role

We are seeking a Superintendent Mine Geology to join our Technical Services team at the Roy Hill Mine.

Reporting to the Manager Geology Operations, this key leadership role is responsible for leading the safe and accurate delivery of mine geology activities, including geological logging, sampling, grade control block design, orebody interpretation and in-pit data management.

You will lead a team of geologists and technicians who play a critical role in maximising orebody recovery, protecting product quality and providing the geological knowledge needed to support confident mine planning and production decisions.

With a strong focus on safety, technical discipline, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of Australia’s largest iron ore operations.

Duties:

  • Champion safe work practices and foster a culture of care, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate geological logging, sampling, interpretation and grade control practices.
  • Oversee the design, validation and delivery of high-quality grade control blocks.
  • Maintain the team’s understanding of the geological profile, mineralogy, material types and contaminants across the deposit.
  • Partner with Mine Planning, Production, Drill and Blast, Processing, Execution and other key stakeholders.
  • Drive improvements in systems, data quality, field practices and reporting.
  • Lead technical projects and improvement initiatives to support operational performance.

Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in geology, geoscience or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in an open pit mine geology environment, ideally within iron ore.
  • Strong understanding of geological processes, grade control, sampling, logging and mining practices.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and provide technical guidance to geologists and technicians.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across operational and technical teams.
  • A practical continuous improvement mindset with a focus on safety, quality and performance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant geological software packages. Experience with Vulcan, Acquire, SQL databases and OREPro preferred.
  • Current Australian manual C Class Driver’s Licence.
