The company has built a strong reputation for delivering complex public and private construction projects with a focus on safety, quality, and customer service.

With a commitment to operational excellence and long-term client relationships, the organization provides experienced construction professionals with the opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects and grow their careers within an established industry leader.

About the Position

Our client is seeking an experienced Heavy Highway Project Superintendent to oversee field operations and coordinate construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably. This individual will lead field crews, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, manage schedules and material deliveries, and maintain high standards for safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in heavy highway construction, particularly asphalt paving, milling, and compaction operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can plan daily activities, solve field challenges, and maintain productive working relationships with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prioritize work assignments while coordinating company crews, subcontractors, vendors, and material deliveries.
  • Maintain continuity between field operations and project requirements to support efficient project execution.
  • Interpret construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to guide field activities.
  • Oversee asphalt paving, milling, and compaction operations to ensure work meets project specifications and quality standards.
  • Calculate material quantities and trucking requirements to maintain jobsite efficiency and budget objectives.
  • Conduct routine safety and quality inspections and enforce company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain professional relationships with owners, government agencies, inspectors, subcontractors, and other project representatives.
  • Identify field issues, coordinate solutions, and communicate project needs to the appropriate team members.
  • Follow company safety procedures, employee policies, and ethical standards while promoting a collaborative, productive work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy highway or heavy civil construction.
  • Technical knowledge of asphalt paving, milling, and compaction operations.
  • Understanding of construction safety requirements and the ability to enforce company and client safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience calculating material quantities and coordinating trucking and deliveries to support project budgets and schedules.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with field teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to work nighttime shifts or other off-hours schedules as required by project and client needs.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary of $100,000–$150,000, depending on experience.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Corporate profit-sharing program.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Full-time employment, typically 40–50 hours per week.
  • Opportunity to work on significant heavy highway and infrastructure projects.
