About the Island Gold District

Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District is one of Canada’s most exciting and rapidly growing mining operations. Located in northern Ontario near Dubreuilville, the district includes both underground and open pit operations employing over 900 team members. The ongoing Phase 3+ Expansion will significantly increase production capacity and includes major infrastructure developments such as a shaft, processing facilities, and power upgrades—positioning the operation as one of the lowest-cost gold mines in Canada.

As Construction Superintendent – Plants Area (Phase 3+), you will play a critical leadership role in delivering the Island Gold Phase 3+ Expansion. You will be responsible for overseeing the construction, procurement, and commissioning of plant-area facilities. Working closely with the Construction Manager, engineers, contractors, and site teams, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution: Lead and oversee all construction activities, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.

Safety Leadership & Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring adherence to all safety standards, regulations, and site procedures, including review and approval of work plans and JHAs.

Team & Contractor Management: Coordinate internal teams, consultants, and contractors while managing interfaces between multiple workstreams and maintaining strong working relationships.

Contract & Resource Management: Administer contracts, monitor labour/equipment/material usage, track owner-supplied materials, and manage change orders effectively.

Quality Assurance & Problem Solving: Conduct inspections, resolve design or execution challenges, and ensure work meets quality and performance expectations.

Stakeholder Communication: Lead site meetings, provide regular progress updates, and collaborate closely with engineering, estimating, and project stakeholders.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in construction supervision on large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience in heavy industry construction and commissioning
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage contractors, and deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Deep understanding of safety regulations, environmental standards, and labour practices
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in mining or remote site operations is considered an asset.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability, and a proactive, self-motivated approach.

Working Conditions

  • Rotation schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off or 14 days on / 14 days off (subject to project needs).
  • Site-based role at Island Gold (northern Ontario).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an active construction environment, including walking, standing, and navigating site conditions.

Travel & Accommodation

  • Company-provided flights from Toronto, Sudbury, and Rouyn-Noranda
  • Camp accommodation provided while on rotation.

The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
