Job Description

We are looking for Construction Superintendents with experience in environmental remediation, civil construction, and/or demolition. Superintendents provide the onsite field management for various sized projects. On larger projects, the Superintendent may supervise multiple foremen and craft employees. On smaller projects, the Superintendent may be responsible for administrative management functions with oversite from a Project Manager or Operations Director. The Superintendent acts without close supervision, within certain established parameters, proven experience and judgment are expected.

This is a project-based position, extensive travel required.

  1. Committed to and responsible for Envirocon’s Safety Culture & actively involved in project Health and Safety, including:
    • Embraces and enforces the site and corporate Health and Safety Plans
    • Works with the site Health and Safety representative
    • Ability to review project hazards and participate in Job Hazard Analysis
    • Perform pre-task planning
    • Participate in incident investigation and reporting
  2. Direct onsite efforts to ensure that assigned projects are completed in accordance with policy, design, budget, and schedule.
  3. Select, schedule, and track properly sized and necessary equipment for completing project tasks.
  4. Coordinate and direct material, vendors, subcontractors, and craft labor as required on project to ensure project goals are achieved.
  5. Assist the Project Manager in the selection and hiring of craft personnel.
  6. Assist Project Manager/Operations Director in all necessary project management functions as required including good client relations involving staff onsite.
  7. Responsible for the training and mentoring of direct reports (i.e., foremen, craft employees, etc.).
  8. Maintain daily diary for record keeping purposes.
  9. Complete other duties as assigned by Project Manager or Operations Director, which may include assistance with submittal preparation, cost tracking, cost estimating, proposal development, and the development of new work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and project scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of cost control systems to support job performance and efficiency.
  • Experience with daily quantity and cost reporting
  • Ability to prepare and review labor and equipment reports.
  • Strong understanding of project contracts and scopes; able to work with Project Managers and Contract Administrators to develop change notices and justifications.
  • Knowledge of equipment capabilities and performance to ensure proper equipment selection and use.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with craft personnel, clients, subcontractors, and internal departments such as purchasing and engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and the ability to influence others.
  • Able to thrive under pressure while managing multiple, and at times competing, deadlines.
  • Demonstrates persistence, initiative, and problem-solving creativity in day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Must meet and maintain Envirocon’s driver qualification standards and hold a valid driver's license.
  • Solid understanding of construction scheduling and cost control, with the ability to supervise and lead large teams effectively.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices, standards, and procedures and how they influence project execution.
  • Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification or 8-hour refresher preferred (Envirocon will provide if needed).

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or equivalent role in environmental remediation, civil construction, and/or demolition.
  • Proven experience managing large, complex projects with multiple field staff (e.g., foremen, field engineers).
