About Future Group
Future Group is not your traditional financial services company – we're a collective of super funds and services committed to changing our planet now for a better tomorrow. When you join us, you’ll become part of a team united by a clear and important mission: to lead the investment movement by advocating and campaigning for a future worth retiring into.
We are looking for someone to join our purpose-led high-growth scale-up as a Superannuation Operations Specialist – Claims on a six-month fixed-term contract.
You’ll support the Trustee in overseeing superannuation claims, helping ensure fair, consistent and compliant outcomes for members. You’ll work closely with senior Operations colleagues, insurers, administrators and internal stakeholders to review claims, identify issues, support escalations and contribute to strong claims governance and member outcomes.
You may already be working in a superannuation Trustee office, or you may be joining us from a superannuation administrator and looking to broaden your experience into governance, oversight and Trustee responsibilities. And the best bit, you’ll get to work with some fantastic work mates!
Future Group values diverse lived experience and identities, and we strongly encourage applications from people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, those with caring responsibilities, from culturally and racially marginalised groups, with disabilities, who experience ageism, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those who face social exclusion due to their social class.
We recognise that the recruitment journey may present unique challenges for trans and gender diverse folk, and we are committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all. We will happily make any reasonable adjustments to accommodate diverse needs, so if there is anything we can do to support you at any stage of your application, please let us know. About The Role
As our Superannuation Operations Specialist – Claims, you’ll support the assessment, determination and oversight of insured and non-insured superannuation claims.
You’ll review claims information, make claim determinations within your delegated authority and review decisions to ensure they are accurate, fair and consistent with fund rules, Trustee obligations and regulatory requirements. You’ll help identify matters requiring further investigation or escalation and support the management of complex or disputed claims. You’ll work with insurers and administrators to clarify issues, monitor follow-up actions and help ensure claims are managed appropriately.
You’ll also contribute to claims reporting, service-provider oversight, quality reviews and continuous improvement activities. Your work may include identifying recurring issues, supporting governance reporting and helping improve claims processes and member outcomes.
You'll love this job if
- You enjoy solving problems and making careful, well-reasoned decisions.
- You’re naturally curious, analytical and detail-oriented.
- You’re comfortable reviewing information from different sources and asking questions when something doesn’t look right.
- You build positive relationships with service providers and internal stakeholders.
- You’re motivated by delivering fair outcomes for members and are comfortable escalating matters when appropriate.
- You like working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change and there are opportunities to contribute beyond your immediate responsibilities.
We're looking for someone who
- Has 2 or more years experience in superannuation administration, particularly claims administration, insurance operations or member outcomes.
- Has experience managing or reviewing insured and non-insured claims, including Death, TPD, Terminal Illness or Income Protection claims.
- Is confident reviewing claim information, identifying issues, following up with administrators or insurers, and escalating matters when required.
- Understands the importance of fund rules, Trustee obligations, accuracy and fair member outcomes.
- Ideally has experience working in a superannuation Trustee office, or has worked closely with a Trustee or RSE licensee.
- Has strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Can manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records and follow matters through to completion.
- Has RG146 or is willing to undertake the relevant training where required for the role.
- Believes in Future Group’s mission and has a passion for moving Australia’s money out of fossil fuels and into renewable energy.
- Believes in using the power of money to build a sustainable and equitable world.
Some nice-to-haves but are not essential are:
- Exposure to claims governance, quality assurance, reporting or continuous improvement.
- Experience managing claims disputes or AFCA-related matters.
