Position Purpose:

Dietary position contributes to the needs of the department through scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. The Super Relief - Dietary position contributes to the quality caring philosophies of SFHMC through job professionalism, communication and established practices. Under the general directions of the Operations Supervisor, the Super Relief - Dietary position is responsible for performing all work tasks as assigned which includes relief assignments, portioning, setting up and service of food items, silverware washing, maintaining stock, cleaning and maintenance of all areas and equipment, deliveries to areas of the hospital, floor stocking assignments related to operational needs of MSH.

What you will do:

  • Assists with all aspects of meal service to customers, ensuring satisfaction, consistent quality and accuracy.

  • Sets up work/service area according to established procedure and time frames to ensure efficiency and timeliness of service.

  • Loads and delivers food trucks or trays (to: floors, retherm truck, dishroom) following appropriate procedures within established time frames.

  • Cleans and sanitizes assigned work area and equipment, maintaining safety and sanitation standards of the department throughout the day and upon completion of daily work assignments.

  • Follows established food handling practices and foodservice standards at all times for service delivery and/or retrieval.

  • Adheres to all safety and sanitation standards of the department

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate to significant amount of lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, standing and walking are required. Must follow written and verbal instructions in English. Position requires ability to frequently lift light objects, perform simple manipulative skills and gross body coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods; see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises.

  • Works in an institutional kitchen setting and subject to hazards associated with such an environment, including wet surfaces, cooking equipment, sharp instruments and refrigerated areas. Employee may frequently be exposed to high, low and sudden fluctuations in temperatures, grease or oil; dust; hazardous materials such as chemicals; bodily injuries; unpleasant noise; high humidity or wetness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.

  • Food service experience preferred.

  • Licensure: Valid CT driver’s license required.

  • Skills: Excellent customer relation skills, ability to read and understand written and verbal instruction in English, able to use a calculator to perform simple mathematical calculations.
