The Opportunity
El Puente is seeking an organized, community-centered, and dependable Summer Weekend Coordinator to support the operations, programming, and overall flow of the Taylor-Wythe Leadership Center during weekend summer programming.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating welcoming and engaging spaces for youth and families, and understands the importance of relationship-building, safety, and strong coordination. The Summer Weekend Coordinator will help ensure that weekend programming runs smoothly while supporting meaningful opportunities for community connection, leadership, and engagement.
Working closely with the Program Director and site team, this role will help oversee weekend operations, support community partnerships and co-locators, coordinate activities and events, and contribute to a safe, organized, and positive environment for all participants.

Founded in 1982, El Puente is a youth-centered human rights organization rooted in Brooklyn and Puerto Rico, using education, arts, culture, and community organizing to inspire leadership for peace and justice.

The Role
The Summer Weekend Coordinator plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of weekend programming throughout the summer. This position focuses on ensuring that activities, events, and partnerships are coordinated effectively while maintaining a welcoming, organized, and safe environment for youth, families, and community members.
This role requires someone who is proactive, responsive, and comfortable balancing operations, communication, outreach, and relationship management in a dynamic community setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and oversee weekend program operations and activities throughout summer programming
- Coordinate with co-locators, activity leaders, and community partners utilizing the space
- Maintain organized participant records, schedules, rosters, and co-locator documentation
- Support outreach and engagement efforts to promote weekend programming and increase participation
- Coordinate and support community events, tournaments, celebrations, performances, and other weekend activities
- Monitor programming spaces to ensure safety procedures and operational expectations are upheld
- Troubleshoot day-to-day operational needs including room usage, scheduling, and participant support
- Communicate regularly with the Program Director regarding program updates, incidents, and operational needs
- Support community-building efforts that foster welcoming and inclusive spaces for youth and families
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and organizational initiatives

- Experience working in youth development, community programming, or related environments preferred
- Strong organization, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced community setting
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
- Reliable, proactive, and solution-oriented
- Familiarity with or commitment to youth development, community engagement, and social justice values
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to become certified
Location & Compensation
This is a seasonal part-time, in-person position based at one of El Puente’s Brooklyn Cornerstone Leadership Centers during Summer 2026.
The expected schedule is 16 hours per week, consisting of two 8-hour weekend shifts.
The hourly rate for this role is $25 per hour.
