ABOUT THE TRAINEE POSITION

We are now looking for a Digital Product Design (UI/UX) Trainee to join our Design team for approximately 3–4 months (May–end of August). The exact start date and duration of the trainee period will be agreed separately.

As a trainee in Kempower’s design team, you will get to contribute to real product development while learning from experienced designers in one of the leading fast-charging solution providers. You’ll be a part of our software development summer trainee team while also workingclosely with other designers, supporting the creation of digital services and user interfaces for our cloud solutions.

This is a hands-on learning role where you’ll gain exposure to the full design process — from understanding user needs to shaping interface details — while being supported by a collaborative and experienced team. You’ll also get exposure to how modern AI tools are used in design and development workflows.

YOUR EVERYDAY WORK CAN CONTAIN E.G. THE FOLLOWING TASKS:

• Supporting UI/UX design work for Kempower’s digital products (e.g. web applications and charger interfaces)

• Creating wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs in Figma

• Contributing to our design system and helping maintain consistency across products

• Participating in user research activities, workshops, or internal concepting sessions

• Collaborating with designers, developers, and product managers in day-to-day product development

• Using modern AI tools (e.g. Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar) to explore ideas, prototype faster, and support design and development workflows

• Helping document and communicate design ideas clearly to the team

• Exploring and proposing improvements to existing user experiences

The position is located in Helsinki, with regular collaboration and visits to our Lahti office. The role is hybrid: most work is expected to be done on-site, but occasional remote work can be agreed upon.

WHAT HELPS YOU SUCCEED IN THIS TRAINEE POSITION?

• Studies in design (e.g. UX/UI, interaction design, service design) or a related field

• Interest in digital product design and willingness to learn by doing

• Basic skills in design tools such as Figma (or similar)

• Curiosity towards modern AI-assisted workflows in design and development (e.g. using tools like Claude Code or ChatGPT to support your work)

• A proactive mindset and curiosity towards solving user problems

• Ability to collaborate and communicate ideas clearly

• Courage to ask questions, share thoughts, and contribute actively

It’s a plus if you have:

• Some previous experience (e.g. coursework, personal projects, internships) in UI/UX or a technical field

• Basic understanding of how digital products are built (e.g. working with developers, frontend basics)

• Experience experimenting with AI tools in design, prototyping, or coding
  

As our official company language is English, we expect you to have good communication skills in English. Finnish is considered an advantage, especially for local collaboration.

This is a paid traineeship with a monthly salary based on your completed credits and previous work experience.
