Job Description

SOCCER SHOTS NASHVILLE: Soccer Shots Nashville stretches from Wilson, Sumner, Robertson, and Rutherford Counties to Williamson and Southern Davidson Counties. Offices are located in Nashville, TN. Soccer Shots Nashville is supported by Soccer Shots DC/MD/VA headquartered in Laurel, MD including but not limited to human resources, operations, payroll, and professional development. Soccer Shots Nashville offers programs at nearly 100 locations, serves over 1,800 participants, and employs approximately 25 part-time coaches. REPORTS TO Program Director
Academic and Experiential Objectives:The intern will be required to handle and present him/herself in a professional manner, consistently arriving on time to assigned office hours, coaching sessions, and events. S/he will be expected to assist in the overall execution of a Soccer Shots season and will gain knowledge in the planning, scheduling, sales/marketing, customer service, and management side of the business. Throughout the season, the intern will have the opportunity to organize and coordinate an annual clinic, which is an important aspect of Soccer Shots’ community outreach. The student intern will also participate in instructing Soccer Shots sessions, giving him/her experience in coaching youth and working with parents.
Obtaining Academic/College CreditIf a student, this internship experience may or may not already be an approved academic credit internship with your school. Please make sure to notify us immediately if you are seeking academic credit through your school for this experience. With your help, Soccer Shots will work directly with your school’s registrar, academic advisor, or internship department to help you achieve academic credit for this internship experience.
Responsibilities (can include but are not limited to):Leadership/Management:• Assist in the overall execution of the scheduled Soccer Shots season• Plan and run free clinic• Coach sessions throughout the season• Video/photo projects Sales/Marketing/Customer Service:• Run demos and attend promo events• Participate in business development with Program Director• Correspond with center directors• Participate in social media content creation and communication Administrative/Support:• Create, print, and distribute registration forms and promotional materials• Prepare and keep record of equipment sets and gear for instructors• Assist in preparation of instructor training meeting• Prepare direct mail and other marketing documents• Prepare and distribute seasons prizes and certificates• Data entry Professional Development:• Attend Director Round Table discussions and staff meetings, as available• Submit final report to Soccer Shots on experience
Physical/work environment requirementsFunctions in a temperature controlled office environment a portion of the time. Work requires ability to sit, stand and walk throughout an extended work day (8 – 10 hours); position requires use of fingers, hands and arms on a consistent basis for keyboarding and phone work; position may need to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; excellent vision skills (with or without correction) are required. The standard office environment has moderate noise levels associated with computer equipment, customers and phone conversations. Position may occasionally have the need to be exposed to an inside/outside sports environment. Functions in an inside/outside sports environment a portion of the time. Work requires ability to run, stop, stoop, bend (a physical, exercise type regimen) in a minimum of 40 minute increments per session. Position requires use of hands, arms, legs and feet and may include lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion. Moderate gymnasium like noises are associated with this position as well as excellent vision skills (with or without correction.)
Goals & Evaluation method:A performance evaluation will occur at the conclusion of the first term and at the conclusion of the internship placement. The evaluation will consider the following general areas of professional operations, and specific intern goals within each area:

AdministrationContinuing formal and informal supervision will occur between the intern and the onsite supervisors. Clear and open communication will occur on an ongoing and as needed basis, at a minimum of 30 minutes per scheduled work day with site supervisors.
Internship Structure and CompensationThe Soccer Shots internship will encompass a minimum of 240 hours over a 12-week period . The internship will include twelve consecutive 20-hour (minimum) work weeks for the duration of the internship. During the first four weeks of the internship, the intern will be working closely with the Program Director on preparing for the upcoming season -- scheduling instructors, running demos, and promoting the season. Once the season starts, the student intern’s schedule will be half in the office working on various tasks, projects, & assignments and half coaching at various locations and programs

Requirements

  • Prior soccer experience is not required. We only require the passion for positively impacting children’s lives through the love of sports and fitness.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • At least one consistent Weekday Evening (4pm-7pm) & one weekend morning (8am-12pm) available per week


Compensation: $12.50 per hour
