Partners Community Health (PCH) is a new not-for-profit organization, focused on bringing healthcare services together around the needs of people living in Mississauga and West Toronto. PCH currently operates two new state-of the-art LTC homes and community hub in West Mississauga. The new homes have a combined 632-beds and be part of PCH’s larger strategy that introduce innovative and inclusive programs and services and new models of care delivery. Summer Program Support Assistant

The Summer Student – Recreation Program Support Assistant is a temporary, non-unionized support position that assists the Recreation Team with the delivery of recreational and social activities for seniors participating in the Integrated Seniors Hub programs.
Working under the supervision of the Recreation Therapist Assistant the student provides general program support, activity setup assistance, participant encouragement, and administrative help to enhance the participant experience. This role is intended to provide learning opportunities and practical exposure to recreation services in a seniors’ community setting.
The Summer Student does not independently lead programs, complete resident assessments, provide personal care, develop care plans, or perform duties assigned to unionized Recreation or Personal Support staff.

Primary Responsibilities
Program Support
• Assist Recreation staff with preparing materials and supplies for scheduled activities and events
• Help set up and clean up activity rooms before and after programs
• Welcome participants and assist with participant sign-in processes
• Encourage social interaction and participation during group activities under staff direction
• Provide one-to-one encouragement and companionship to participants during programs
• Escort participants to and from activity areas when required and appropriate
Administrative Assistance
• Assist with photocopying, preparing activity materials, decorating bulletin boards, and organizing supplies
• Help distribute recreation calendars, notices, and program information
• Support staff with attendance tracking and basic clerical tasks
• Assist with organizing storage areas and recreation equipment
Event & Activity Assistance
• Support special events, celebrations, and seasonal activities
• Assist with refreshments and light hospitality tasks during programs and events
• Help transport activity supplies and materials within the program areas
• Participate in intergenerational, social, and recreational activities alongside participants
Safety & Environment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming activity environment
• Follow all health and safety procedures and infection prevention practices
• Report participant concerns, incidents, or safety issues to Recreation staff immediately
• Use recreation equipment and supplies safely and appropriately
Team Support
• Work cooperatively with Recreation staff, volunteers, and team members
• Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and confidentiality in all interactions
• Participate in orientation and training sessions as required
• Perform other general support duties related to recreation programming as assigned
