Job Description

The Nurse ensures the health and safety of campers and staff by managing daily medical care, coordinating with local professionals, and maintaining camp health protocols. The Nurse also actively participates in camp programs to support overall wellness throughout the summer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • rain staff during pre-camp orientation on health, safety, and first aid procedures
  • Oversee camper and staff intake, including health screenings for lice, communicable diseases, and signs of abuse
  • Dispense medications and provide daily medical care and first aid
  • Maintain accurate medical records and daily health logs
  • Supervise campers and staff in the Health Care Center
  • Ensure the Health Care Center and all first-aid kits are clean, stocked, and organized
  • Coordinate with local medical professionals and facilities for emergency care and treatment
  • Manage treatment protocols approved by a licensed physician, including procedures for common illnesses, injuries, and screenings
  • Communicate health-related concerns and incidents to the Assistant Camp Director and Executive Director
  • Review camper health histories and ensure proper documentation, including emergency treatment permissions
  • Monitor camper wellness and dietary habits; advise Cabin Leaders on reporting health concerns
  • Complete accident and insurance forms for medical incidents
  • Submit end-of-summer reports summarizing treatments, equipment inventory, and recommendations
  • Collaborate with the OAC Director to maintain medical supplies and ensure proper documentation
  • Participate in camp programs, evening activities, and spiritual formation efforts
  • Model Christ-like behavior in all interactions with campers and staff
  • Report suspected child abuse immediately to the Assistant Camp Director
  • Other related duties as required

All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Current RN, LPN, EMT, or MD (required)
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (required)
  • Minimum 21 years of age (preferred)
  • Camping experience either as a camper or staff (preferred)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • General skills working with children (required)
  • Ability to keep and maintain current and accurate records for campers and staff
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must have a personal and growing relationship with the Lord

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools
