Job Description

Join Hydro’s innovation journey and play a vital role in shaping the future of sustainable aluminum production. As a global leader in the aluminum industry, Hydro is committed to pioneering technologies that advance decarbonization and operational excellence. Through projects such as HalZero, our groundbreaking CO₂-emission-free process for producing primary aluminum, we continue to push the boundaries of industrial innovation. The HalZero Department in TOS is responsible for developing the HalZero Technology. We are a team of highly skilled colleagues with different backgrounds, experience and expertise.

What we offer you

An internship in Hydro is a great way for you to try out and learn more about your field of study. You will obtain valuable experience, and you get to tackle relevant tasks and real challenges, with support from experienced colleagues. You will also get to participate in a joint program with all the Hydro summer interns, allowing you to learn more about our business and acquire interdisciplinary knowledge. All the while, we expect and want you to have a fun experience during the summer.

What you will be doing

The tasks will depend somewhat on the students background and focus during studies.

The Summer Intern will have his/her own mini-project do be conducted during the stay. It may comprise a combination of theoretical and practical lab-tasks. Typical tasks are laboratory work to enhance the understanding of a particular topic important for the HalZero development, or modelling where that is relevant.

The end product will always be a report summarizing the work that has been done through the summer. The student will also need to present his/her work for the larger HalZero team towards the end as the work can be relevant to many colleagues.

What will make you successful?

  • Master study in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Nanotechnology, Inorganic Chemistry, Process Chemistry/Engineering, Metallurgy, Electrochemistry, Heterogeneous catalysis, Environmental Engineering/Science Economics, Management of Technology, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Industrial Economics and Technology or a related field.
  • HSE-focused with a positive attitude.
  • Practical and self-driven.
  • Curious and eager to learn.
