Requisition Summary

The primary focus of this position will be to support Summer Test trip activities within the Thermal Management Group. The Instrumentation summer intern will work closely with and under the mentorship of experienced technical and engineering staff while assisting with the preparation of offsite test vehicles, installing instrumentation and data acquisition equipment. The intern will assist with the pre-test data collection in “real-world” truck operation and ensure measurement accuracy. This position will collaborate with engineering and technical staff outside the department, offering a broader exposure to the work performed at the Technical Center and PACCAR’s North American engineering organizations.

The Summer Internship Program provides the opportunity to contribute to PACCAR’s truck and technology development efforts while gaining valuable technical skills and experience. The Program also organizes social events with interns working in various groups at the Technical Center and other engineering facilities.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck and engine divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Support tasks related to truck instrumentation and data collection.
  • Install data acquisition instruments and dataloggers.
  • Ensure accuracy of test data for engineering analysis.
  • Assist with the calibration of pressure sensors and other measurement devices.
  • Inform engineering and other internal teams of work progress and issues.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Instrumentation and Control Technology Associates Degree program or be enrolled in an AA degree program in a related technology.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft office products.
  • Strong mathematical skills, basic knowledge of electronics.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
