Job Description

The Dish Room Crew ensures all kitchen, camper, and staff dishware is thoroughly cleaned to maintain a healthy and efficient dining environment. Responsibilities include washing dishes, pots, and pans; sweeping and mopping; managing trash; and keeping the dishwashing area clean and organized.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Dish Room Responsibilities:

  • Wash and store all dishes, pots, and pans; maintain cleanliness of dishwashing areas
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors daily; scrub after the final meal
  • Empty and clean trash cans, grease traps, and mop storage areas
  • Clean Dish Room windows, counters, carts, and ice machine
  • Break down cardboard and maintain an organized back storeroom
  • Assist cooks with kitchen duties as needed to support efficient operations

Additional Duties:

  • Perform end-of-day cleaning in kitchen, pantry, dish room, storeroom, and porch
  • Maintain personal grooming and cleanliness in living quarters
  • Assist with camp-wide cleanup at the end of each session and summer
  • Support opening and closing day procedures as directed
  • Participate in evening programs, campfires, and other camp activities
  • Contribute to the spiritual formation of campers and staff
  • Model Christ-like behavior in conduct and service
  • Report suspected child abuse immediately to the Assistant Camp Director
  • Other related duties as required

All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 16 years of age (required)
  • Camping experience either as a camper or staff (preferred)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently and with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to maintain good rapport and communication with other staff members
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must have a personal and growing relationship with the Lord

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools
