The expected hiring range for this position is:

$15.00-$25.00.

About the Role:

Fermilab is seeking 2 Summer Day Camp Counselors on an intermittent basis to provide the daily care for an assigned group of children based on their individual needs, consistent with their age and stage of development.

What your day-to-day as a Summer Day Camp Counselor at Fermilab will look like:

Childcare Program Support

  • Implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, activities, and curriculum aligned with early childhood development standards.
  • Providing initial instruction and assistance in developing children’s interest in activities and monitors activities to ensure they’re conducted in an equitable manner.
  • Helping foster a collaborative and positive team culture within the classroom.
  • Helping maintain a structured yet flexible classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintaining an organized, clean, and safe classroom in accordance with health and safety standards; assists in the enforcement of emergency procedures and child supervision protocols.
  • Maintaining the arrangement, cleanliness, and learning environment of the classroom.

Parent & Team Communication

  • May assist during drop-off and pick-up times on shift.
  • Communicates any urgent concerns or updates to the Center Manager.
  • Promotes a positive and respectful environment for staff, children, and families.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.


Essential Competencies and Attributes for Success:

  • High school diploma
  • 1+ years of experience working with children.
  • CPR and first aid certification (current or willing to obtain).
  • Familiarity with corporate or employer-sponsored childcare settings preferred.


Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Basic knowledge of early childhood education principles.
  • Stays calm under pressure and manages shifting priorities.
  • Lifts up to 40lbs.
  • Frequently stands, walks, bends, and interacts with children.

  • Onsite This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia office.
