What the role is all about:

WinSport Summer Camps is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual for the position of Shift Lead, Sport & Wilderness. If you have a genuine interest in working with youth, leading others, and a commitment to excellence we invite you to apply.

Candidates for this position should have experience working with children/youth and supervising peers/adults, along with strong interpersonal and written communication skills, including a guest success mindset.

As a Sport & Wilderness Shift Lead, your primary role is to supervise the execution of daily Sport & Wilderness operations. You will ensure campers, parents, Volunteers and WinSport Team Members have exceptional experiences.

This position requires strong leadership skills to effectively coordinate, organize, and manage operations. You will be responsible for supervising team members and volunteers, ensuring they meet our high standards of programming excellence whilst also helping to celebrate joy in the work we do.

What you will be doing:

Team Member Leadership

  • Lead daily team member meetings which detail key goals, objectives, and safe practices.
  • Provide support, role modeling, and mentorship for Team Members, and Volunteers.
  • Supervise daily check-in/out times acting as a point of contact for Team Members and ensuring high levels engagement.
  • You will ensure campers, parents, Volunteers and WinSport Team Members have exceptional experiences.

Operational Leadership

  • Adjust program and staff schedules daily based on variable factors ensure exceptional guest experiences.
  • Assist in the design and execution of training for Team Members including education on lesson planning, leading youth, and WinSport policies & procedures.
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure the high quality of program execution.

Leading Children and Youth

  • Mediate participant conflicts in a consistent, fair, and professional manner
  • Participate in the play.
  • Substitute as an instructor when required.

Safety

  • Model and adhere to all WinSport policies and procedures.
  • Assess and manage risks within programming.
  • Participate in frequent safety briefings to all campers and team members to ensure adherence to applicable risk control plans.
  • Other duties as required

What you bring:

  • Must be available for mandatory staff training from June 22 to 26, 2026.
  • Must be available for mandatory shift lead training May 11-14, 2026.
  • Must be available Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, from June 29 to August 28, 2026, for at least 8 of the 9 weeks of summer camps.
  • Must be available specifically for Weeks 2 and 3 of summer camps, July 6 to 10 and July 13 to 17, 2026.
  • Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
  • Current Standard (Intermediate) First Aid and CPR level C certification.
  • Currently enrolled in or have graduated with a post-secondary education in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sport Administration, Applied Eco Tourism and Outdoor Leadership or related programs is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working with teams of various sizes and demographics is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, & Word.

Work Conditions:

  • 40-44 Hours per week.
  • Ability to run, walk, and jump for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outside for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
  • Evenings and weekends may be required based on operational needs.
  • Full-time, in-person availability is required.
  • Maintain a high level of positive energy throughout the day.
  • The job is frequently expected to lift, carry, throw, push, or pull objects (sporting equipment).
