Job Description

Bonitz, Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking a Summer Associate to support our project team during the summer internship period. This position is designed to provide hands-on exposure to the commercial construction industry while supporting day-to-day project and office operations.

The Summer Associate will shadow and support Project Managers, Project Specialists, Project Consultants, and Estimators, gaining experience across the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout. In addition, this role will support general office functions and special projects as assigned. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, organized, dependable, and interested in a future career in construction, project management, or related fields.

Position Essential Duties

  • Provide general support to the project team in a timely and accurate manner
  • Shadow Project Managers, Project Specialists, Project Consultants, and Estimators to learn Bonitz project processes
  • Assist with administrative, documentation, and coordination tasks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support general office operations and daily tasks as needed
  • Participate in team meetings, job reviews, and training opportunities when assigned
  • Maintain professionalism when interacting with Bonitz team members, customers, and vendors
  • Follow all Bonitz safety policies and procedures

Job Responsibilities

Pre-Construction

  • Assist Estimators with basic takeoffs, document review, and material research under supervision
  • Review construction drawings and specifications for learning purposes
  • Support Project Consultants and Project Specialists with job setup activities and documentation
  • Help organize preconstruction files, proposals, and supporting materials
  • Attend preconstruction or internal planning meetings as assigned

Construction

  • Shadow Project Managers during active projects to observe scheduling, coordination, and communication processes
  • Assist with organizing project documentation, change orders, and correspondence
  • Support Project Specialists with data entry, project tracking, and record maintenance
  • Attend jobsite visits or project meetings when appropriate and approved
  • Assist with general project support tasks as needed to help maintain workflow

General Office & Team Support

  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, copying, scanning, and data organization
  • Assist with answering phones, greeting visitors, and supporting office operations
  • Help with special projects, research, and team initiatives as assigned
  • Support coordination of meetings, training, or events when needed

Travel

  • Minimal travel may be required for jobsite visits, training, or meetings at other Bonitz offices

Education / Experience and Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Strong interest in the construction or project management industry
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and follow direction
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screening if required
