Summer 2027 Creative Studio Multimedia Internship

Creative Studios: This Team supports multimedia production and visual storytelling efforts across the Communications Department. Interns will assist with photo and video production and creative content development while gaining hands-on experience in multimedia storytelling, production workflows, and cross-functional collaboration that help bring Southwest's stories to life.
The Multimedia A/V Intern will support multimedia and audio/video production within the Creative Studio Team in the Communication Department. Supporting photo and video storytelling, production and live broadcasting.

- Join Southwest as a Summer 2027 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from May 18 – August 8, 2027.
- Pay of $21-$24 per hour, corresponding with progress toward degree.
- Stipends may be offered based on eligibility and program criteria.

Due to the nature of this role, you would be required to work from our Dallas, TX headquarters facility during business hours (2702 Love Field Drive).
- Dedicate 40 hours each week (maximum of 8 hours per day) to your internship responsibilities and tasks.
- Receive free, unlimited space available travel privileges for yourself (taxes and fees may apply on international travel).
- Interns will be provided any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship.
- U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Creative Studio Multimedia Intern may include but are not limited to:
- Create, publish, and participate in video production.
- Attend Production meetings, writing, brainstorming, storyboarding, lighting, audio, videography, editing, compression, and publishing of videos.
- Running and setup of teleprompter, standard grip work such as rolling cords, setting up tripods, stowing equipment, and maintaining batteries.
- Log and capture archival videos into digital system.
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver content (audio/visual) that meets brand standards and guidelines.
- Creating and maintaining learning material for a given Customer group, which can include online learning, classroom curriculum, job aids, videos, graphics, and performance support tools.
- Setting up lights and audio equipment, recording audio and video, post-production, and maintaining audiovisual equipment.
- Meeting Customer needs while recommending and developing effective sustainable solutions.
- Working closely with subject matter experts to gather requirements and ensure accuracy of the content.
- Developing in an agile environment, conducting rapid analysis, producing prototypes, and hosting iterative content reviews.
- Balancing multiple projects at a time and meeting milestones and target timelines.
- Ensuring quality and accuracy of products.
- Completing other ad hoc tasks as assigned by Leadership.
- Potential travel involved.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Experience using Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere required.
- Previous part time work experience or prior internship preferred.
- Participation and experience in campus radio/TV station, and/or filmmakers club a plus.
- Knowledge of Broadcast laws (i.e. copy writes) preferred.
- Comfortable in front of or behind a camera.
- Ability to meet deadlines and report hours of work on each project.
- Working knowledge of Motion, Compressor, Color and other programs in Apple Final Cut Suite.
- Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Photoshop) is preferred.
- Experience using a video and/or DSLR cameras, lighting, audio, and shot composition is preferred.
- Writing for broadcast or broadcast news preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Team oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adjust shifting priorities as they change.
- An engaging, upbeat personality that makes those not used to being filmed comfortable, is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse Employee population.
- Ability to collaborate on projects and use feedback to make improvement.
- Animation design skills are a plus.

Education:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required
- Progress towards degree, major, or minor Broadcast Communications; Radio, TV, Film; Graphic Design; Multimedia Design; Fine Arts; OR similar degree
- Progress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree preferred
- To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (as defined by your university) at the time of application and during the internship
- At least 3 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
- You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process.
