Job Description

The Lafayette 148’s internship program provides rising juniors, seniors and recently-graduated college students the opportunity to gain valuable experience working at a luxury fashion brand. During the program, interns will gain meaningful exposure to the business through hands-on learning, team projects, mentorship and exposure to executive leaders. Lafayette 148 is committed to providing in-depth learning opportunities for our interns so that they gain usable, real-life experience in their area of focus. All internships are in-person at our home office located at The Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Responsibilities by Department

Buying (4 days a week)

  • Assist in pulling weekly, monthly, and seasonal reporting
  • Help build seasonal training tools for stores and AD; support retail trunk shows
  • Weekly store fill-ins and replenishment needs
  • Help field regular store correspondence

Trim & Tech Design (4 days a week)

  • Sample & Fit Management: Lead the end-to-end sample lifecycle by tracking shipments, receipts, and returns, while assisting with fitting setup, photography, and detailed documentation.
  • Technical Documentation & Design Support: Maintain and update technical sketches, product records, and body scan files using DeSL and Adobe Illustrator to ensure accurate development reports.
  • Accessory & Trim Coordination: Support the development and sourcing of accessories and trims, including style creation in DeSL, inventory tracking, and the preparation of boards for market.
  • Operational & Seasonal Organization: Oversee Work in Progress (WIP) reports, maintain organized seasonal reference files, and provide essential support for showroom and market setup for the teams

Supply Chain / Operations (4 days a week)

  • Assist with department data entry & report processing (i.e. excel spreadsheets & varying Company databases)
  • Support as needed to our Pre-Production teams including Technical Designers & Pattern Makers.
  • Production/Allocation support as needed, including but not limited to daily business reporting & processing.
  • Sample Management Team: Assist with sample preparation to internal & external photo studios; participate in organizing corporate sample collections.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required such as filing, sending packages, etc.

Sales (4 days a week)

  • Account & Administrative Support: Provide essential administrative assistance for accounts, managing order changes, special orders, and daily maintenance to ensure seamless operations.
  • Market & Sales Tool Preparation: Partner with sales team members to prepare for market, including the creation of buy books and various selling tools to drive business results.
  • Sample Logistics Management: Oversee the movement and tracking of 7-10 sample sets, coordinating shipments and returns for accounts and internal needs.
  • Event & Team Coordination: Assist in the organization of the bi-annual Stylist Summit and collaborate with coordinators to address day-to-day stylist requirements and special assignments.

Design (4 days a week)

  • Supporting Designers with sketches and boards
  • Working with the Tech and Logistics team to organize samples
  • Support in creating inspiration boards
  • Provide general support to the Design team
  • Other assignments/projects as needed

Styling (4 days a week)

  • Assist stylist and team with sample trafficking.
  • Prep, attend and assist all fittings, photoshoots, and events.
  • Provide administrative support, process all creative and marketing invoices keep track of printing requests and archiving printed materials
  • Help with photo asset organization and fulfill daily asset requests from internal teams and external partners

Retail Operations & Retail Excellence (4 days a week)

  • Partner with the Retail Operations team to support day-to-day initiatives across retail operations, internal communications, and new store opening roadmaps, while assisting with cross-functional project coordination and execution.
  • Contribute to high-impact training initiatives that elevate the client experience, including preparing training materials and supporting the development of styling boards and tools for boutique associates to enhance personalized client engagement.
  • Participate in boutique visits to support VIC activations and any in-store events, observe the entire client journey, and shadow boutique team members to gain insight into in-store roles and operations, identifying any opportunities for the corporate team to better support retail teams and their evolving needs.

Visual Merchandising (3 days a week)

  • Execute window displays and store installations across NYC retail and wholesale locations, including dressing bust forms and updating brand looks to maintain high visual standards.
  • Partner with teams to develop and distribute merchandising tools and presentations for upcoming installations designed to maximize in-store sales.
  • Coordinate the setup of showrooms for market weeks and special events, while managing office-based visual areas and administrative merchandising projects.
  • Participate in store visits to analyze the impact of visual actions on store performance and provide hands-on support for local NYC storefronts and showrooms.

Digital Marketing (4 days a week)

  • Data Pipeline Management: Extract, clean, and pre-process customer data from CRM systems and various sources to ensure high-quality inputs for analysis.
  • Exploratory Analysis & Insights: Perform detailed data analysis on purchase history and browsing activity to identify key trends, patterns, and correlations that drive decision-making.
  • Segmentation & Strategy: Support the development of customer segmentation strategies based on shopping behavior to identify specific opportunities for targeted marketing campaigns.
  • Reporting & Collaboration: Create data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders while collaborating with team members on CRM projects and process improvements.

Accounting (3 days a week)

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Support the annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes by providing detailed analytics for key business initiatives across all divisions.
  • Performance Monitoring & KPIs: Track and analyze core business results—including revenue, expenses, and headcount—to monitor historical performance and identify key trends.
  • Strategic Modeling & Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct specialized financial modeling and ROI analyses to support management decisions and provide data-driven insights for various business functions.
  • Operational Reporting & Documentation: Prepare high-impact presentations for team members in management, maintain step-by-step process documentation, and assist with accounts payable and reconciliations.

General Internship Responsibilities (All Departments)

  • Network and learn about multiple business functions through formal and informal training opportunities
  • Partner with team members within assigned department on key projects
  • Follow up and solicit feedback regularly with a customer-service mindset
  • Prioritize and manage tasks assigned by supervisors
  • Demonstrate strong organization, accountability, and attention to detail

Desired Background

  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student (rising Juniors and Seniors preferred)
  • Demonstrated academic leadership or extracurricular involvement preferred
  • Strong interest in the fashion and/or luxury industry

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset and strong work ethic
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) preferred
  • Experience with Smartsheet or similar project management tools preferred
  • Team player with flexibility, creativity, and eagerness to learn

Base Pay Range

  • The base pay range for this position in New York City is $18.00 per hour; base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, and location.
