Job Description

Join our team as a Corporate Archives Intern and have a unique opportunity to develop practical skills in managing historical records, supporting exhibit creation, and contributing to the preservation of our company’s legacy. You will work closely with the Lead Historian & Archivist, gaining exposure to a variety of archival processes and projects tailored to a corporate environment.

The Kroger Summer Internship Program is a 12 week immersive experience that offers students an opportunity to grow their careers through a variety of focused internship assignments. Rotation dates: (May 18 - August 7).

  • Historical Documentation: Assist in gathering and organizing information related to the company’s past, including employee stories, milestone events, and cultural developments.
  • Archival Organization: Participate in the arrangement and maintenance of archival materials, ensuring records are systematically filed and accessible.
  • Digital Projects: Support the digitization of photographs and documents, including scanning, labeling, and entering descriptive data into our archives database.
  • Exhibit Support: Contribute to the planning and assembly of historical displays, helping to select materials and develop interpretive content for internal audiences.
  • Outreach & Engagement: Help promote archival initiatives through internal newsletters, company events, and digital platforms.
  • Project Assistance: Collaborate on special projects as assigned, such as research for new exhibits or updating archival workflows.

Minimum

  • Enrollment as a junior or senior undergraduate in History, Library Science, Archival Studies, or a related discipline; graduate students in relevant fields are also encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Kroger Co (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status)
  • Foundational understanding of archival principles and record-keeping practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
  • Detail-oriented approach and ability to maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks.
  • Interest in historical research, corporate culture, and information management.
  • Prior experience in archives, libraries, or exhibit development is beneficial but not required.
  • Highly motivated student with the desire to take initiative on their own work
  • Highly motivated with strong leadership skills and the ability to work in groups or independently
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to preserve confidentiality of information
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to present information to various levels of the organization
  • Managing multiple priorities between school, work or extra-curricular activities
  • Responds to change as a positive challenge
