ABOUT BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF BOSTON

SuccessLink Adult Leaders provide additional support to Boston-based Clubs through the City of Boston’s SuccessLink Grant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

SuccessLink Leaders perform various functions within our BGCB Clubs, including, but not limited to:

  • Assists in the delivery of department-specific program, activities, and events as directed.
  • Assists in the monitoring of members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate.
  • Assists younger members with department rotation, lining up for transition and mealtimes, and other events throughout the club.
  • Reports any disciplinary or other issues to the supervisor.
  • Participates in collaborative programs and events with staff from other clubhouse departments as well as staff from other BGCB clubhouses and community organizations as appropriate

GENERAL BGCB EXPECTATIONS

  • Teaching youth/teens the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle is a BGCB priority. As a result, all staff are expected to model healthy behavior while working with our members.
  • BGCB values creating child-friendly environments, where youth/teens of all abilities can be successful and participate. BGCB expects employees to embrace its focus on inclusion of all members, regardless of disability or developmental challenge.
  • Building the capacity of staff is central to BGCB. The organization encourages and requires that all staff participate in annual professional development opportunities that continue to cultivate their skills in the youth development field.
  • Every staff member shares the responsibility for ensuring BGCB is, and remains, an environment free of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • City of Boston resident.
  • Must be between 19 and 24 years old as of June 22, 2026.
  • Complete BGCA-required training on topics including supervision of youth, recognizing child abuse, youth worker rights, behavioral expectations, social media, and internet safety.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Participate in individual and group supervision sessions.
  • Flexibility to work clubhouse hours especially as seasons and service needs change.

Preferred or Ideal

  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • Experience with or willing to learn excel.

TRAVEL

  • Travel between sites and to activities as required.

START DATE

June 22, 2026 - seasonal position ( desired start date yet position open until filled)

LOCATION

Dorchester, MA (Franklin Hill Club) – 2 positions allotted

SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary – $20/hr for up to 30 hours/week; along with a great work environment
