Position Overview

Greenway is seeking dependable individuals to serve as Substitute Lunch Aides. In this on-call role, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment for students during their midday meal break.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise students in the cafeteria, hallways, and outdoor/indoor recess areas, encouraging positive behavior, good manners, and adherence to school expectations.
• Assist younger students with lunch trays, opening food/beverage packages, and locating seats.
• Maintain active monitoring, intervene in minor conflicts using positive reinforcement, and report safety concerns or major behavioral issues to administration.
• Assist students with proper trash and recycling sorting; wipe down tables and sanitize seating between lunch waves.
• Monitor outdoor play equipment and boundary lines in varied seasonal weather conditions.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Patience, warmth, and strong verbal communication skills when interacting with children and staff.
• Ability to stand and walk for 2 to 3 hours continuously, lift up to 25 lbs, and work outdoors in typical Minnesota seasonal weather.
• Must successfully pass a mandatory Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) background check prior to employment.
