St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School (formerly St. Gabriel's Catholic School and St. Michael's Catholic Academy) is an outstanding co-educational Independent Catholic school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade on two adjacent campuses in Austin, Texas. of Position:

Responsibilities include teaching assigned sections of courses. The goal is for the substitute teacher to provide students with a safe and effective learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher and to provide students with meaningful and appropriate instruction in accordance with the lesson plans provided. This position is a non-exempt, hourly position paid in 2, 4, 6, or 8 hour increments depending on time working daily. The employee will be able to work for 10 months of the year.

Job Details: Responsibilities include but are not limited for the teacher to:

• Reports to the Substitute Coordinator at the beginning of the day to pick up the schedule of classes and at the end of the day to provide a brief report.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lesson, units, or projects assigned.
• Provides classroom teacher with written feedback on the results of the lesson and any student behavior issues.
• Employs instructional methods that are most appropriate for meeting the unique learning needs of all students.
• Performs duties usually required of absent teacher such as recess and lunch duty, hall monitoring, etc.
• Insures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
• Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
• Knows school procedures and regulations.
• At the end of the day, leaves the classroom in a neat and orderly fashion. Straightens chairs, tables, clears white boards, etc.
• Performs other related duties as directed by Substitute Coordinator.

Requirements

Required Experience, Degree and Skills:

• Must have a Bachelor's degree and prior years' experience
• Positive attitude towards students, staff and faculty
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication (written and verbal)
• Exceptional organization, time management and prioritization skills
