The Spencerport School District is currently accepting applications for substitute security workers. Applications will be reviewed and selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.
Candidates must be eligible for appointment as Security Worker, as per the rules and regulations of the Monroe County Department of Human Resources and Civil Service.*
Applicants must be fingerprinted and cleared for employment for the NYS Education Department before employment begins.
Civil Service: Competitive, no exam is currently required per the Monroe County HELP program. New hires will be appointed on a permanent basis.
Duties: Provide per-diem/substitute security worker duties under direct supervision of the Senior Security Worker and Director of Security, patrols school buildings to ensure a safe and secure building environment, as well as the personal safety of students, staff, and visitors.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma. Experience as a security guard or security officer may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. *Candidates must take and pass the next available Civil Service exam in order to maintain eligible for employment as security worker
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with students K-12, ability to work with students, staff, and the public, willingness to work additional hours as need, willingness to work an alternative work day schedule as required to support educational and district program needs.
Special Requirements: Current registration as a Security Guard with the New York State Department of State.
Work Schedule: 4 hours per day (mid-day), 4 days per week (Monday and Tuesday required), with flexibility for additional hours.
Salary/Rate of Pay: $20.00 per hour for licensed security guards, $25.00 per hour for active/retired law enforcement
