Job Description

POSITION: Substitute Nurse

Position Type - Substitute

Location: Sussex Academy - All Schools (Elementary School and Secondary School)

Type of Employment: Substitute - Part Time - As Needed

Salary: Paid in accordance with State of Delaware approved Substitute Nurse rate.

Sussex Academy has ongoing openings for Substitute Nurse to fill absence coverage, field-trip need and additional nursing support as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes and maintain collaborative working relationships.
  • Manages the school nurse office and attends to medical needs of students including administering medication, responding to emergencies and routine assessment of student well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with students and the school community.
  • Assists in carrying out state or local health rules and regulations.
  • Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other appropriate agencies on school medical matters.
  • Other duties as may be assigned within the scope of services provided by medical professionals.
  • Support implementation of school health and safety protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse License, recognized by the Delaware Board of Nursing.
  • Certification: Valid and current CRP/AED Certification.
  • Clearances: A Satisfactory Criminal Background check, A Child Protection Registry Check, and a negative TB Test result.
