Will assist the teacher in carrying out the educational, recreational, and social programs planned for children.

Examples of duties

  • Attend lectures, conferences, and other educational programs as directed to support professional development and growth as an aide.
  • Remains attentive to each child's needs and helps promote their health and welfare.
  • Maintains the classroom in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Rotates to assigned centers as needed.
  • Assists with classroom responsibilities in the absence of the teacher and the teacher aide.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferably some college education (child development / early childhood courses / or experience working with preschool children).
  • Be bilingual and have experience working with preschool-age children.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines for the position annually.

  • The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
  • This position is not covered by Civil Service; therefore, it is subject to all the Webb County Policies and the Webb County Head Start addendum.
