Substitute Paraprofessionals work alongside certified teachers to support students with diverse learning, behavioral, or personal care needs. You may work one-on-one with a specific student, assist small groups, or provide general classroom support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and lesson activities.
  • Reinforce learning concepts individually or in small group settings.
  • Provide positive behavioral encouragement and support.
  • Assist students with transitions, mobility, or personal care needs as required.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a FBI/BCI criminal background check (completed via District HR).
  • Valid Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce (HR will assist you with the application process if needed!).
  • Strong patience, communication skills, and a genuine passion for working with children.

We serve as the central educational and service resource for schools, government agencies, families, children, and the community. We provide educational programs, professional development, multi-faceted family services from prenatal through high school that promote achievement and improve the quality of life for families and children. BCESC also provides staffing services, leadership and support in the areas of administration, management and consultation to school districts.
