Richland School District 88A is accepting applications for the following position(s)

SUBSTITUTE NURSE

Requirements

  1. Vision and Hearing Certificate or willing to obtain certification, if requested.
  2. Maintains current licensure, LPN at a minimum, Registered Nurse preferred
  3. Maintains certification for CPR and AED
  4. Working knowledge of Illinois School Code as it relates to health services in public schools.
  5. Exceptional people skills
  6. Ability to "multi-task"
  7. Physical health and background that will allow them to complete their duties, as demonstrated through a physical and criminal background check prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  1. Regular and punctual attendance to perform duties. Absences only for personal illness, family emergency, civic duty, or pre-arranged days off w/supervisor approval, pursuant to Richland School Policy.
  2. Dress professionally, i.e. no jeans or casual apparel without prior approval.
  3. Enforce Richland School District Policies, in addition to the Illinois School Code and Illinois Department of Health guidelines
  4. Greet visitors and/or students and staff in a pleasant manner, assist them with their needs or direct them to the appropriate source.
  5. Maintain accurate and complete records.
  6. Maintains confidentiality regarding all school and health related issues.
  7. Maintains confidential communication regarding pertinent student health information
  8. Maintain nurse's offices in a clean and sanitary fashion.
  9. Professional demeanor through communication with colleagues, supervisors, parents, students and staff. Refrain from comments, actions, etc. which would distract from a friendly work environment.
  10. Organizes and maintains a cumulative health folder for each student according to Illinois School Code and Illinois Department of Health requirements
  11. Provides services including first aid, assessment of ill students and emergency care to students and staff. Documents health office visits in Office Log pursuant to nurse's office procedure.
  12. Provides staff with up to date information about student's health care needs as needed.
  13. Administers medication and/or monitors self-administration of medication as ordered according to school policy
  14. Carries out technical procedures for students with special health care needs (i.e. glucose monitoring, urinary catheterization, peak flow monitoring, etc.) and documents procedure.
  15. Completes incident reports as necessary related to student and injuries during school
  16. Coordinates the health related support in the event of a crisis, i.e. work with community first responders and maintain accurate records of students seen, treated, transported off campus, or released to parents.
  17. Communicates with parents regarding communicable conditions at school under IDPH Guidelines.
  18. Performs other duties as directed by building principal.

Time Period

August 2026 � May 2027

Pay Rate

Full Day Equivalent 1-29: $150 per day

Full Day Equivalent 30+: $200 per day

This position is hired on a daily or "as needed" basis.
