Substitute - NurseModify or remove health-related barriers to learning; and promote an optimal level of wellness to enhance the educational process of students. Develops and promotes good community relations among community and school clientele.
--- Track, monitor and enter data for immunizations and compliance with State mandates.
--- Complete, update and maintain student records (accident reports, health records).
--- Provide well student care, health care, first aid, immunizations and assistance to students as well as screen for nuisance diseases such as lice or ringworm. Implement Infection Control Procedures as necessary.
--- Promote student responsibility and healthy consumer decision making.
--- Documents health related services in Designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program.
--- Collaborate with other school and health care staffs to maintain and promote a safe and healthy environment.
--- Establish procedures for and/or provides for emergency care and management of illnesses and injuries in the local school. Provide emergency care that includes timely and appropriate referral.
--- Interpret and educate school personnel in department policies, related school district policies and Colorado State Laws (significant Health Conditions List, child abuse reports, emergency procedures, health screenings and assessment, immunizations, substance abuse, medication use, first Aid training).
