Bertrand’s School of Music, part of Bertrand’s Music Enterprises, is seeking qualified and dependable musicians to join our team as Substitute Music Teachers. Substitute teachers provide lesson coverage when regularly scheduled instructors are unavailable, helping ensure continuity and a positive learning experience for our students.
This is a temporary and/or on-call position, with schedules and assignments varying based on instructor absences and business needs. Substitute assignments may range from individual days to several weeks.
General Responsibilities/Duties
- Provide individual and/or group music lessons for students of varying ages and skill levels.
- Follow existing lesson plans, curriculum, and student progress notes when available.
- Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and abilities.
- Create a safe, engaging, fun, and professional learning environment.
- Inspire and motivate students while maintaining continuity with their regular instruction.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, staff, and school leadership as needed.
- Maintain accurate lesson and attendance information.
- Promote a positive experience with Bertrand’s School of Music.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Proficiency and demonstrated experience in the instrument(s) being taught.
- Bachelor's degree in music, music education, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience and demonstrated proficiency will also be considered.
- Previous teaching or instructional experience preferred.
- Credentialed teachers are preferred but not required.
- Must be organized, dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to step into an existing teaching schedule and adapt to students at varying skill levels.
- All accepted teachers are required to complete fingerprinting and a background check through the Department of Justice.
