Job Description

Position: Substitute - Food Service Cook

Location: Warren County Career Center

Employment Status: On call - as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid ServSafe Certification preferred/ required after 30 days
  • Must be neat, clean, and able to work cooperatively with staff and students
  • Must pass a criminal background check

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with established food safety guidelines, district policies, and health department regulations. The role includes proper documentation of food temperatures and corrective actions based on the district's HACCP plan and ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal food service standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare meals according to provided recipes and follow portion control guidelines
  • Utilize small-batch cooking techniques to reduce waste and ensure food quality
  • Accurately maintain production and inventory records
  • Handle and manage money in accordance with district policy
  • Follow and enforce sanitation and safety standards as mandated by the Warren County Health Department
  • Perform daily cleaning of kitchen and service areas; participate in major cleaning during staff in-service days
  • Operate Point of Sale (POS) system, understanding pricing and components of a reimbursable meal
  • Maintain a positive, respectful work environment with coworkers, students, and school staff
  • Provide assistance across the department as needed and fill in during staff absences
  • Exhibit punctuality, reliability, and a readiness to work daily
  • Model professional and responsible behavior for students and staff
  • Participate in required professional development and ongoing training
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor
