Job Description

Substitute Teacher Assistants and Substitute Teachers may be asked to work at any one of the six (6) facilities in Cuyahoga County where The Centers provide Early Learning programs and services.

Job Qualifications
• Childhood Development Associate (CDA) or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent preferred.
• High school diploma with experience and trainings may be considered.
• Students currently enrolled in a CDA or Associates degree program will also be considered.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Under the guidance of the classroom teachers, facilitates indoor and outdoor educational activities and child care routine to meet the identified needs of individuals and groups of children.
• Independently works one-on-one with children with special needs who are assigned to the classroom
• Assists with delivery, final preparation and distribution of daily meals, materials, and equipment to classroom as needed
• Cleans eating areas in the classroom after each meal is completed
• Completes accurate and timely paperwork related to assigned children including daily activity plans, attendance records, meal counts, heights and weights, and classroom observations
• Takes point of service meal counts at all meals/snacks
• Assists with the serving and cleanup of meal service
• Takes steps to ensure children have adequate time to eat, and are encouraged but not forced, to eat or taste food
• Holds any child who is still receiving a bottle at any meal time
• May assist with screening and assessments of individual children
• May provide support to other classrooms to maintain target staffing levels
• Perform other duties as assigned
