POSITION 27S5 TITLE: Substitute Custodian III (2026-2027)
LOCATION: Countywide
EMPLOYMENT TERM: As needed. Typically, eight hours per day, but flexible as needed by school starting time. 2026-2027 school year.
BID PERIOD: September 10-25, 2026, 4 pm
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, climb a ladder (minimum of six feet), and use repetitive motions. The employee must be able to move chairs and cafeteria tables on a daily basis and to use mechanical devices to assist in lifting/moving materials when available (e.g., dollies/hand trucks, straps, lifts). The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may occasionally lift/move 50–75 pounds with team assistance or appropriate mechanical assistance. Specific vision abilities include close vision to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to visually identify hazards. The custodian position involves sustained physical exertion over an entire shift requiring extended walking/standing throughout.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this position. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and involves exposure to varying environmental conditions, including heat (such as kitchens and boiler or furnace rooms), cold weather for snow and ice removal, and changing weather conditions.
The employee is exposed to cleaning chemicals used in accordance with manufacturer labeling, safety requirements, and district policies and is required to use appropriate personal protective equipment when provided. Noise levels may range from moderate to occasionally loud, particularly in cafeterias, gyms, mechanical rooms, or during special events. Work surfaces may be wet or slippery during cleaning operations, including mopping or floor stripping. The position may require work during nontraditional hours, emergency situations, or weather-related events.

SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule located at https://boe.mars.k12.wv.us/o/mcs/page/salary-schedules. Pay grade C.
