Job Description

Bloomington Public Schools is looking to hire several on-call subs who can be notified in advance or on short notice to cover the front desk of our schools. The subs will mainly work at our District Office located in Oak Grove Middle School, and other schools as needed.

Class II, Step 1: $22.64 per hour

Benefits:
Due to the on-call nature of this position, it is not eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Answer district office phone; assist and direct callers as appropriate
  • Greet visitors and assist with visitor authentication (via Verkada System)
  • Field Registrar inquiries (i.e. transcripts, employment verification). Look up information in Infinite Campus and Laserfiche and fulfill requests (*only when filling in for multiple consecutive days).
  • Assist the Community Relations and Volunteer Connection team with clerical tasks as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in Google suite tools, including Gmail, Chat, Meet, Calendar; Drive for storage; Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Sites for collaboration; and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Additional experience preferred in Laserfiche, student information systems or similar digital tools and platforms.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills, including personable attitude, and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Dual-language is welcomed.
  • Knowledge of FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) and student data privacy. Federal guidelines pertaining to student records and retention schedules is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a high-demand setting (e.g. phones, receptionist, customer service)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
