Job Description

The Structural Engineer will support substation projects by designing and reviewing structural components that meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements. This role works closely with electrical engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure all structures are designed to withstand environmental loads, support equipment, and comply with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop structural designs for substation steel structures, equipment supports, foundations, and platforms.

• Prepare calculations, drawings, material lists, and design packages for new installations and modifications.

• Review vendor drawings and ensure designs align with project specifications and applicable codes.

• Support engineering studies, site assessments, and constructability reviews.

• Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to resolve design issues during planning and construction.

• Assist with cost estimates, project schedules, and technical documentation.

• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards such as NESC, AISC, ACI, and applicable utility requirements.

• Provide engineering support during construction, including field visits as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• EIT or PE license preferred, depending on level.

• Experience with substation or utility-related structural design is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency with structural analysis software and CAD tools.

• Solid understanding of industry standards and structural design codes.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Structural design expertise for steel structures, foundations, and equipment supports.
