Position(s): Substation Electrician
Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday
Location: North and South Carolina
Travel: frequent travel between project sites is required

FB Timberline is seeking experienced construction Substation Electrician's (Full time, Permanent) to support various projects across North and South Carolina. This role involves the installation of substation equipment for utility, industrial, and commercial clients.

The Substation Electrician will work on construction projects, upgrades, and maintenance contracts while ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Control Wiring Experience is a requirement, trenching, conduit installation and LV Distribution work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emulates Forbes Bros core value of 'WE WORK SAFE' in all daily tasks
  • Install and terminate power and control cabling in substations
  • Install, wire, transformers, breakers, switchgear, CTs, PTs, and relay panels
  • Conduct troubleshooting of substation equipment
  • Interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and protection schematics
  • Assist with equipment change-outs, retrofits, and expansions
  • Perform switching and isolation under supervision (if qualified)
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and client representatives
  • Complete job documentation, reports, and as-built drawings
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company procedures
  • Assist with other tasks and functions assigned to this role as required

What We Are Looking For:

  • Journeyman Electrician / Construction Electrician (jurisdiction dependent)
  • Minimum three (3)+ years' experience in substation or high-voltage electrical work, is required
  • Familiarity with megger testing and point to point testing, is required
  • Prior experience working for utility projects, an asset
  • Prior experience operating equipment, an asset
  • Able and willing to provide a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed electrical schematics
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of management, employees and clients
  • Ability to work independently with little direction and with a sense of ownership and personal commitment to a culture of zero injury/occupational illness
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment leveraging excellence in time management
