Reports To: Principal or Designee

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Summary: To enable each child to pursue his or her education as completely and smoothly as possible in the absence of the regular teacher

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he or she is assigned
2. Teaches the lessons outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher's folder as prepared by the absent teacher
3. Consults with the principal or designee before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher's folder
4. Reports, in writing, on the appropriate form provided by the school administration, on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day
5. Verifies with the principal's designee that his or her attendance will or will not be needed on the following teaching day
6. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures
7. Covers duty assignments in the absence of the teacher if applicable
8. Reports to school at the designated time

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Substitute teachers shall:

1. Be at least 18 years old, with preference given to persons 21 years old or older;
2. Hold a high school diploma or have passed a high school equivalency examination approved by the Board of Education;

3.. Possess good moral character;

1. Attend orientation session concerning school board policies and procedures

The Prince County School Board shall seek to employ substitute teachers, who exceed these requirements.

Salary Range: $115.00 Per Day to $140 Per Day
