Job Description

Subsea Well Access & Intervention Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in our business?

Are you an Engineer looking for a new opportunity?

Join our Baker Hughes Team!

Baker Hughes is the leading energy technology company, who delivers across the energy value chain through our market-leading business segments. Built on a century of experience and conducting business in over 120 countries. Our innovative technologies and services are taking energy forward! Making it safer, cleaner and more efficient for people and the planet.

Partner with the best

The Subsea Well Access & Intervention Engineer should have worked on real offshore projects that progressed from concept design and pre-FEED/FEED through execution, closeout, and performance or integrity monitoring.

The role requires working knowledge of the individual products, systems, vessels, tooling, controls, ROV interfaces, well access methods, P&A technologies, and operational services that make up the subsea intervention value chain. Works closely with wells specialists to select the right technical approach and demonstrate a defensible techno-economic case to the client.

As a Subsea Well Access & Intervention Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Defining subsea access and intervention concepts across riser-based, riserless, light well intervention, P&A, inspection, maintenance, and offshore lifecycle scopes.
  • Assessing operating envelopes, water depth, metocean, wellhead and tree interfaces, tooling compatibility, ROV requirements, vessel spread, and equipment availability.
  • Understanding the practical role and limitations of subsea trees, wellheads, controls, intervention systems, riserless packages, light well intervention systems, ROV tooling, vessels, P&A equipment, and offshore support services.
  • Identifying the wells, subsea, marine, controls, facilities, HSE, logistics, regulatory and commercial inputs required during design. Challenge missing data before a concept is positioned as executable.
  • Defining offshore execution constraints, logistics, weather sensitivity, regulatory requirements, SIMOPS issues, HSE exposure, and risk mitigation measures.
  • Quantifying production restoration potential, injectivity gains, integrity risk reduction, abandonment readiness, and associated execution risks for proposal and investment support.
  • Reviewing well intervention scopes, mentor junior engineers, and ensure assumptions are realistic, executable, and aligned with integrated field management objectives.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have BSc in Mechanical, Petroleum, Subsea, Marine, or Offshore Engineering.
  • 15+ years experience in subsea intervention, subsea well access, offshore execution, P&A, or subsea lifecycle operations.
  • Have deep understanding of subsea trees, wellheads, intervention systems, tooling interfaces, ROV operations, vessel spreads, and offshore execution risk.
  • Have proven ability to frame subsea intervention value propositions and defend techno-economic options with clients and leadership teams.
