Job Title: Subject Matter Expert – Machinery (Oil and Gas)

Role Purpose

The Machinery Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Oil & Gas industry provides specialized technical expertise on critical rotating and static equipment, including compressors, turbines, pumps, and associated systems. The role focuses on ensuring asset reliability, integrity, safety, and operational efficiency in upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities through advanced diagnostics, maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives..

Key Responsibilities

  • The ability and gravitas to speak to all levels of the customer organization and guide the introduction and implementation of a predictive analytics solution
  • Lead multi-disciplinary, geographically dispersed, teams to provide excellence in service provision
  • Provide expert-level technical support for rotating equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, and pumps.
  • Lead troubleshooting and failure analysis of critical equipment to minimize production losses and downtime.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Drive customer reliability improvement initiatives using reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and condition monitoring techniques.
  • Analyze machinery performance using process data, vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and OEM vendors to improve equipment lifecycle management.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, technical guidelines, and best practices.
  • Train and mentor engineers and technicians on machinery systems and reliability practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 15+ years of experience in machinery engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong expertise in rotating equipment (compressors, turbines, pumps) and auxiliary systems.
  • Hands-on experience in condition monitoring tools such as vibration analysis and oil analysis.
  • Familiarity with international standards such as API 610, API 617, API 618.
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Certifications such as Vibration Analyst (ISO Category II/III) or CMRP.
  • Knowledge of digital tools, predictive analytics, and asset performance management (APM).
  • Exposure to offshore/onshore plant operations and maintenance
