The Opportunity

You will support Hitachi Energy’s Grid Integration business by managing the sourcing and commercial activities for contracted services tied to substations, including civil works and erection. In this Tecno‑Commercial, individual‑contributor role, you will plan and run sourcing strategies, negotiate agreements with main contractors, establish and maintain supplier frameworks, and oversee supplier performance across bids, quotations, and project execution. You will also manage purchase orders under defined thresholds, monitor delivery to requirements, and drive cost‑out and benchmarking initiatives that help the business meet its financial targets.

By identifying and mitigating contractual risks, adapting corporate contractual frameworks to local needs, and fostering clear communication with internal teams and external E&C companies, your work helps projects land on time, within budget, and to expected quality—supporting reliable grid infrastructure build‑outs and upgrades. Along the way, you’ll sharpen your negotiation and contract management craft, deepen your understanding of E&C supply markets (including Germany), and partner closely with sales/tender, engineering, and SCM colleagues to keep projects moving with speed and clarity.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Implement sourcing strategies for the Contracted Services category aligned with business strategy.

  • Negotiate agreements with main contractors and renew price lists, terms, and conditions.

  • Establish and maintain supplier agreements; standardize terms and select contractors with a focus on quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability.

  • On‑board new suppliers, run regular evaluations, and provide performance reports to businesses and category managers.

  • Run benchmarking studies and design cost‑out programs/processes to reach financial targets.

  • Create local amendments to frame agreements; adapt corporate contractual frameworks to local business needs and oversee ongoing contract management.

  • Identify and mitigate contractual risks via contractor risk reviews; align risk profiles to the project risk matrix and follow up on mitigation plans.

  • Support regional/global sourcing initiatives; run regional sourcing under thresholds, initiate POs, confirm deliveries, and track supplier performance to PO requirements.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Experience in E&C procurement and negotiation of medium to large contracts (2–10 MUSD).
  • Understanding of contractual frameworks and their applicability and risks (Turnkey), plus knowledge of risk identification and mitigation.
  • Knowledge of the German E&C market, subcontractors, and market drivers.
  • Knowledge of category management techniques (market analysis, SWOT, Purchasing chessboard, Kraljic Matrix) and procurement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with quality methodologies such as Six Sigma; excellent communication skills; able to work independently with limited information; proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Power BI.
