
Salary: $16 per Hour / Substitute
Primary Purpose:
The childcare provider's primary function is to provide a safe, healthy, stimulating learning environment where each child can grow and learn and a warm, accepting place. In addition to being concerned about the child's physical, emotional, intellectual and social self, the teacher will establish a relationship with the child's parent(s) that will lead to a mutual sharing of support and concern for the child.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parents
Ability to work with groups of children, staff and parents in a positive manner
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Effective organizational and communication skills
Ability to relate to children and adults with courtesy, respect, acceptance, compassion, and patience
Experience:
Some experience in a licensed childcare facility � preferred, not required
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional/ Professional Support
1. Assist in planning, preparing materials, and implementing lesson plans for daily learning activities for children. Give director a copy to approve and post in classroom.
2. Conduct age-appropriate activities for children in care including but not limited to reading to children and teaching simple painting, drawing, crafts, and songs.
3. Observe and monitor children's play activities.
4. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom including organizing and storing toys, materials, and personal items belonging to children. Establish centers in the classroom.
5. Clean and sanitize furniture, equipment, toys, and linens following procedures as required by licensing.
6. Prepare snacks, ensuring safe handling of food for children.
7. Keep all knowledge of staff, children and families confidential.
8. Assist with/ Maintain classroom records as needed.
Student Management
9. Supervise and ensure safety and security of children in the classroom, on outings, and to and from outside play areas.
10. Assist children with all physical functions such as feeding, diapering, toileting, walking, and standing.

11. Communication with co-teachers how each child's day has been and what information (if any) needs to be communicated to parent before shift change.
12. Observe and document developmental progress of children.
Safety
13. Follow district safety protocols and emergency protocols.
14. Maintain current CPR and first aid certifications.
Other
15. Participate in staff meetings, special events as assigned, staff development/ training activities to improve job performance and meet yearly state childcare licensing training hours.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard classroom and nursery equipment such as toys, playgrounds, multiple-rider strollers, etc. Personal computer and printer.
Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping.
Motion: Moderate walking, climbing, lifting, balancing, and handing or moving materials.
Lifting: Regular lifting and carrying (up to 35 pounds).
Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise; frequent exposure to bodily fluids; work with frequent interruptions.
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress and self-control in the presence of children.
