Summary
As a Tree Care Stump Grinder Groundsman at Moon Valley Nurseries, you will be responsible for providing essential support to our tree care operations, specializing in stump grinding. You will assist with tree maintenance, removal, and stump grinding, ensuring a safe, efficient, and clean work environment. This role involves working with heavy machinery, practicing safety protocols, and maintaining a clean and organized job site. Ideal candidates are safety-conscious, physically fit, and have a passion for horticulture and landscape care.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate stump grinding machinery to remove stumps safely and effectively.
- Support tree care operations by assisting climbers and arborists in ground operations.
- Clear and dispose of debris, including branches, leaves, and wood chips, ensuring the work area is clean and organized.
- Inspect and maintain equipment, reporting any malfunctions or damage to supervisors.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment for the team and clients.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to understand job requirements and address any concerns.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Previous experience in tree care, landscaping, or grounds maintenance is preferred. Experience with stump grinding machinery or similar equipment is highly desirable.
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance, strong teamwork and communication skills.

Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical requirements/Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
