The Study Director is accountable for advancing projects through the Growth and Innovation Group’s Project Pipeline by leading and integrating all study-phase activities across a portfolio of capital projects. Reporting to the Vice President, Studies and Projects, this role leads the development of projects from early identification through all study phases, ensuring alignment between corporate objectives and regional execution.
The Study Director oversees multidisciplinary study teams and drives the delivery of high-quality technical, economic, and strategic outputs required for investment decision-making. A core responsibility is directing technical studies, trade-off analyses, and project evaluations, ensuring that engineering, operational, and financial inputs are rigorously developed and integrated. The Study Director partners closely with Finance to validate project economics and ensure consistency with corporate standards, while leading the development of business cases, risk assessments, and funding proposals for stage-gate approvals.
The role requires close collaboration with Exploration and Technical Services to support the preparation of Technical Report Summaries in compliance with SK-1300 and NI 43-101 requirements. This includes ensuring that all technical investigations are properly scoped, executed, and aligned with industry best practices. The Study Director will lead cross-functional coordination with operations and regional teams to advance key workstreams, including land access, environmental baseline studies, and socioeconomic assessments, ensuring all site-specific requirements are addressed to support project progression.
Additionally, the Study Director contributes to the development and continuous improvement of company-wide Project and Study Standards, while providing leadership and oversight to Study Managers and study teams to ensure consistent, high-quality execution across the portfolio.
The Day-to-Day:
Lead and oversee a portfolio of multidisciplinary studies, providing direction to Study Managers and cross-functional teams spanning Exploration, Technical Services, Operations, Projects, Environmental and Finance.
Establish and manage the annual budget for the studies portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and disciplined cost control.
Develop and deliver monthly portfolio reporting, including progress, key risks, financial performance, and milestone tracking.
Direct the day-to-day execution of large-scale capital studies, ensuring effective coordination across technical and functional workstreams.
Define, implement, and continuously refine study work plans to meet evolving project requirements, timelines, and strategic objectives.
Prepare and present comprehensive study reports for executive review, including assessments of project viability, risk profiles, development pathways, and key trade-offs.
Determine resource requirements and assign responsibilities to ensure optimal team performance and accountability.
Review and validate technical and commercial deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
Manage study portfolio schedules and budgets, proactively identifying variances and implementing corrective actions where required.
Provide regular, structured updates to stakeholders on study status, key decisions, and emerging risks or opportunities.
Ensure all employees and contractors deliver work in accordance with SSR Mining Inc. standards, policies, and business practices.

Is This You?
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
15 years experience in operations or engineering, as well as a minimum ten years’ experience in a management role on studies or projects.
Construction experience would be considered a significant asset.
5 - 10 years of experience managing professional staff.
Demonstrated commitment to safe, sustainable work practices is essential.
The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, as well as strong business and technical writing skills.
The ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills are important.
A working knowledge of Exploration, Permitting, Technical Services functions, EPCM, Economic Modeling, Operations, OPEX and CAPEX estimation.
Ability to travel internationally.
Able to be cross-disciplined and work comfortably with other cultures.
