Technical Leadership & Architecture
Define and own the development strategy and technical roadmap for entrusted projects, in alignment with producers and studio leadership
Establish guidance and architecture across different technical disciplines on large-scale game development projects
Identify the most appropriate solutions for complex technical challenges and validate them with the wider team
If necessary, directly participate in development, particularly for critical or high-risk features
Research and advocate for cutting-edge technologies applicable within the games industry
Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary technical liaison between the studio and clients — addressing inquiries, clarifying expectations, and ensuring technical deliverables meet agreed standards
Contribute to new project proposals: establish development strategies and staffing plans for project bids
Communicate technical progress, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to production, clients and upper management
Review technical documentation including system designs, specifications, and project reports
Team Oversight & Mentorship
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary technical team including software engineers and technical artists
Guide lead developers and their teams on best practices, tool chain design, and development methodologies
Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and foster a collaborative work environment
Ensure work methods and quality standards are applied consistently across the technical teams
Risk & Quality Management
Assess and report technical risks proactively; propose and implement mitigation plans
Ensure all delivered work meets required quality criteria
Advise teams regularly on technical decisions to maximize production safety and project success
At least 15 years of programming experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in the games industry
Proven track record of shipping at least one AA/AAA title at a significant technical position
Proficiency in C++ and solid knowledge of additional languages (C#, Python, Lua, or similar)
Strong experience with modern game engines, particularly Unreal Engine 5; familiarity with Unity a plus
Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented programming
Hands-on experience across multiple platforms: PC, Gen 9 consoles
Demonstrated experience in a management role (Technical Director, Director of Engineering, CTO, or equivalent)
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and initiative; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken, B2 minimum); able to present to large or mixed audiences
Nice to Have
Background in outsourcing or co-development / service-based studio environments
Experience with DevOps practices and toolchain optimization
Appetite for performance optimization and low-level systems programming
